ABOUT


David Fleischer is a production, stage and costume designer, working with leading theatre, music theatre, dance, ballet and opera companies. His practice spans various genres and forms, creating works distinct for their theatrical ambition, visual elegance and acuity. He has created and toured pieces locally and internationally, and his his work has been recognised with numerous industry awards and appointments including resident designer for Sydney Theatre Company, The Berlin Music Opera Award, the Kristian Fredrikson Fellowship and the Thelma Afford Award for Costume Design in Stage and Screen. David is a highly collaborative creative thinker and visual storyteller.

Recent works include Sydney Dance Company’s international tour to The Kennedy Centre in Washington D.C., Mercat de les Flors, Barcelona, and The Joyce in New York, FANGIRLS at the Lyric Hammersmith with Sonia Friedman Productions, and GILGAMESH for Sydney Chamber Opera and Opera Australia. Upcoming projects include the second national tour of Suzie Miller’s RBG; OF MANY ONE,  a new adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s ORLANDO at Belvoir St Theatre, IMPERMANENCE’s showing Chaillot Théâtre National de la Danse, Paris, as well as premiering a piece for Ballett Zürich choerographed by Cathy Marston in 2026.
